Primark at Alicante
Thousands of people were present at the Gran Via Shopping Centre in Alicante yesterday morning for the opening of the Irish store Primark. It is the second store the chain has opened in Alicante Province, after the Elche store that was opened two years ago. The Gran Via store is spread over 3,500 square metres and by opening the store, Primark has created 166 jobs out of the 21,000 applications it received.
Oh yes it would - it's an extremely popular shop. The one in Elche mall is HUGE...........
For Gods sake don't open a Primark anywhere, The Goafer (pun) would be up in arms every time the till rang up a sale. Whinger!!!!!
In June 1969, the first Penneys store, (Primark) opened in Mary Street, Dublin, at 10th December 2011, it had 22 stores in Spain.
Anything that brings people and prosterity to the area has to be a good thing, even if it upsets some. "Live and let Live " I say.

I think the sad thing is 21000,people applied for 166 vacacies.
I read this ,and thought,I am so pleased to be retired with a liveable pension.
Surely even the most cynical of us must see just how hard this recession is hitting ordinary people,Please give what you can to local charities that help these people
Andi - I would like to point out that on occasions I have been known to buy the odd item or two from Primark, and I am most certainly NOT an old fogey. I must admit that you do have to pick your items very carefully as some of the materials can look rather cheap. But personally the more shops that can open up on our urbanisation such as Primark the better for everybody. Thank you.
Robert I think Jeff should put a bus on for the Old Fogeys to take us shopping at Primark, that would start another uproar. Sorry Andi as you are just a YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPER, you won't be allowed
Can someone please tell me where in Elche Primark is? (bearing in mind I don't know Elche at all apart from media markt.)
